Counterfeit products are effecting almost all goods and economies; the issue receives momentum especially with the vast growth in online trade at a 2 digit growth rate. Fraunhofer IPMS has developed a new anti-counterfeit solution called “60GHhz-Technology”, specifically designed to address product counterfeiting. The technology uses tiny, fully integrated chips that can be verified wirelessly into any valuable product using millimeter waves with a frequency of above 60GHz. It is highly secure, impossible to copy and easy to implement into existing cloud solutions.
Key features:
• Based on RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) principles/protocols
• mmWave Frequencies >60 GHz enabling on-chip antenna, no assembly needed
• No battery needed, energy is harvested on the chip
• Super-small chip size: ~1 mm2 at very thin chip thickness of <150 µm
• Complete cryptographically secure authentication process in <100 ms
• Read range: ~10 mm
• No copying or removal without notice
